Hidden away in the lush green countryside of the Trégor region, just a few kilometres from the wild shore of the bay of Saint-Michel-en-Grève, Château de Lesmaës is one of those aristocratic Breton manor houses that history has preserved from oblivion thanks to its listing as a Historic Monument in 1927. Far from the pomp and circumstance of the great royal residences, it embodies a discreet provincial nobility, attached to its land and its traditions. What distinguishes Lesmaës from many of its contemporaries is precisely this preserved authenticity: neither invasive restoration nor radical transformation has altered the original silhouette given to it by its sixteenth-century builders.
