In the heart of Larmor-Plage, a seaside village in Morbihan bathed in Atlantic spray, the Fontaine Notre-Dame embodies one of the most intimate expressions of Breton popular devotion. Leaning against the bank of an ancient path, accessible by a stone staircase, it is one of a constellation of votive fountains that dot the sacred landscape of Brittany, silent witnesses to a faith rooted in the very geography of the land. What sets this fountain apart from its Armorican sisters is the coherence of its architectural layout: a carefully composed osseret wall, pierced by a niche housing a Marian representation and crowned by a discreet pediment, flanked by low walls that define a space that is both functional and contemplative.
