In the heart of Langoiran, a small Gironde commune nestling on the banks of the Garonne, stands a building that defies time and fashion: the Cinéma Splendid. Opened in 1948, this village cinema is one of the finest examples of mid-twentieth-century leisure architecture in the Gironde. Its sober, almost austere concrete façade is striking for its formal assurance and its ability to command respect without resorting to superfluous ornamentation.
